Step 1: Cleanse – Start with a Fresh Canvas

The first step in any skincare routine is cleansing. Removing dirt, makeup, and impurities is crucial to prevent clogged pores and breakouts. Look for a gentle cleanser that suits your skin type. I have used CeraVe my whole life and this perfume-free cleanser is a product I can not live without!

  • Product Recommendation: Cerave hydrating clenser (amazon link)
    • This gentle, non-foaming cleanser hydrates and restores your skin’s moisture balance.

Step 2: Exfoliate – Remove Dead Skin Cells

Exfoliation helps to slough away dead skin cells, revealing fresh, radiant skin. You can exfoliate 1-2 times a week, depending on your skin type, using either a physical or chemical exfoliant. Using the popular face scrub from Paula’s Choice is a must for me.

Step 3: Tone – Balance Your Skin

Toners help balance the skin’s pH after cleansing and prepare it to absorb other products better. They also remove any leftover traces of dirt or makeup. one of my favorite brands when it comes to skincare is the ordinary. The toner from the ordinary with glycolic acid has helped me a lot with my acne and I really recomend this product!

  • Product Recommendation:Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toning Solution, 8 Fl Oz Glycolic Acid 7% Toner (amazom link)
    • This is a powerful, affordable exfoliating toner that helps brighten and even out skin tone. It’s perfect for those looking to smooth their skin texture and achieve a radiant glow (make sure to use sunscreen daily as glycolic acid can increase sun sensitivity)

Step 4: Serum – Target Your Skin Concerns

Serums are packed with concentrated active ingredients that target specific concerns, like hydration, acne, or hyperpigmentation. Choose one that addresses your skin’s needs. I use two (and sometimes three) diferent serums to target diferent skin concerns. I have linked my three favourite serums for diferent problems. But as you can see, I love the ordinarys serums and trust them with my life!

  • Product Recommendation:The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Serum (amazon link)
    • This serum is excellent for those struggling with enlarged pores and excess oil production. Niacinamide helps to regulate sebum levels, reduce the appearance of blemishes, and improve overall skin texture, making it ideal for oily and acne-prone skin.
  • Product Recommendation: The ‘Ordinary’ Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 (amazon link)
    • A perfect choice for anyone looking to boost hydration in their skincare routine. Hyaluronic acid is known for its ability to attract and retain moisture, while vitamin B5 enhances skin repair and soothing. This serum is suitable for all skin types, especially dry or dehydrated skin.
  • Product Recommendation:TruSkin Vitamin C Serum (amazon link)
    • This vitamin C serum brightens and evens skin tone, while hyaluronic acid plumps the skin with moisture. A vitamin C serum is a must to your skincare routine.

Step 5: Moisturize – Lock in Hydration

No matter your skin type, moisturizing is essential. It helps to keep your skin barrier healthy and locks in hydration, ensuring your skin stays soft and supple. I have used a moisterizer from CeraVe since I strated to take my skincare routine to the next level. It is perfume-free and keeps your skin moisterized for the whole day.

  • Product Recommendation: CeraVe Moisturizing Cream (amazon link)
    • This non-greasy, fast-absorbing cream is ideal for normal to dry skin and helps restore the skin’s natural barrier.

Step 6: Sunscreen – Protect Your Glow

One of the most important steps to glowing skin is sunscreen. Even if you’re inside, UV rays can damage your skin, leading to premature aging and hyperpigmentation. Forget botox, with sunscreen you can prevent your skin from aging and keep wrinkles away very effectively.

*I want to end this post by saying that you don’t need to buy all these products. It can be good to have a product for each step and pick some of the recommended products to build your personal skin care routine. Adapt your routine to your skin type. Also keep in mind that sleep and how much water you drink etc. also play a big role when it comes to skin care. Thought I’d do a separate blog post on lifestyle choices you can make to benefit your skin. But good luck on your skincare journey and skincare glowup. See you guys soon! Keep going*
